Tuition Waivers
Full or partial waivers are available for the following students:
- Southeast Asian War Veterans ( Washington residents only)
- Veterans whose benefits have been exhausted
- Persian Gulf War Veterans (must have been Washington resident by August 1, 1990 )
- Children of firefighters and police killed or permanently injured in the line of duty ( Washington residents only)
- Children of Vietnam POW/MIA
- Veterans of Operation Iraqi Freedom or Operation Enduring Freedom
- Dependents of veterans who were killed or permanently injured while in active military service
Non-Resident Exemptions:
- Military Personnel - qualified military personnel and their dependents stationed in Washington may get a full or partial
waiver of non-resident portion of tuition.
- American Indian Tribes - members of certain tribes that have traditional boundaries that include Washington may qualify
for a full or partial waiver of tuition.
Space-Available Tuition Waivers
- Washington residents who are 60 years of age or older receive a tuition waiver for up to two courses per quarter if they
wait until the first day of classes to register. Course fees are still the responsibility of the student.
- Employees of Western Washington University who have been in a permanent half-time position or more for at least six months, if they wait until the first day of classes to register. There is a $30 service fee and course fees are still the responsibility of the student.
- Washington state employees who have been in a permanent half-time position or more for at least six months, and members of the Washington National Guard, if they wait until the second day of classes to register. There is a $30 service fee and course fees are still the responsibility of the student.
- Washington public school employees who are pursuing endorsements in certain fields of math, science, special education, or early childhood education.
