ACADEMIC COORDINATING COMMISSION MINUTES
Regular Meeting -- October 7, 2008
Chair Roger Thompson called the meeting of the 2007-2008 Academic Coordinating Commission to order at 4:06 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2008. Commissioners welcomed the student commissioners, and Susanna Yunker, Vice President Student Affairs, who is the acting Registrar since the withdrawal of a recent candidate for the position.
There were fourteen (14) members present, the Recorder (1) and three guests (3) for a total of eighteen (18).
Approval of ACC minutes
Members approved minutes of May 27, 2008 as written.
Announcements from the Provost
· Provost Murphy reported that news from the governor’s office today asks the University to sustain a $2 million dollar cut.
· Murphy reported that there has been no substantive progress on the performance agreements.,
Announcements from the Chair
· Chair Thompson presented for review and approval the revised ACC handbook entitled “Creating Curriculum at Western” that has been distributed to the Commission and others on campus. A PDF version can be found on the ACC website. Commissioners will vote to approve at the next meeting.
· Thompson reminded the members of the Monahan rule, its significance in coordinating curriculum across campus, and the role Commissioners can play in communicating this to their colleagues.

To Graduate Council: 1 year term: Suzanne Krogh, Woodring
Election to 2 remaining positions. An election was held to fill TWO additional faculty positions as 2-year terms on the Graduate Council. The first position was won by Tracy Thorndike-Christ, Special Ed. Gerry Prody, Chemistry, won the second position in a runoff tie between herself and Philip Nelson, Computer Science.
