An engaged Faculty Senate is particularly important for Western during this time of transition. We need a Senate that represents a wide range of disciplines and that includes faculty from every college. Faculty members who are elected to the Senate have the opportunity to develop new networks of colleagues, to learn about important issues facing the University, and to shape the process and direction of change. I strongly urge you either to run for the Senate yourself or to recommend Senate candidacy to your colleagues. I especially encourage you to consider running for the Faculty Senate if you have not participated in faculty governance previously or if your department is not currently represented in the Senate. I would be glad to answer any questions you have about eligibility, the election process, or the nature of serving on the Senate. (Mick.Cunningham@wwu.edu; x4881)
