Geographical InformationWhatcom County consists of
2126 square miles and is located in the northwest corner of
Washington State overlooking Bellingham Bay and the San Juan
Island. The largest city and county seat is Bellingham.
The other major towns are Ferndale, Lynden, and Blaine.
Elevation ranges from sea level to a high of 10,788 at Mt.
Baker. The eastern portion consists of the Mt. Baker
Wilderness area and a portion of the North Cascades National
Park. This section is mainly rugged mountainous area.
The Mt. Baker Ski area is considered one of the best in the
Northwest.
