- Can we send in a resume instead of applying on-line?
ANSWER: You must apply online. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of the
on-line application.
- If I don’t have a computer where do I go to complete an on-line application?
ANSWER: You may complete an on-line application at the Human Resources
Department at 405 – 32nd Street, on the 3rd floor of the Administrative Services
Building B.

- Do I have to join the union?
ANSWER: All new classified staff must comply with the appropriate bargaining
unit contracts including participation and union dues requirements when

- How do I find out more information about Bellingham or Whatcom County?
ANSWER: To obtain additional information about the city of Bellingham or Whatcom

- Can I submit an application or send in application materials for a position that
is not open?
ANSWER: Applications are accepted for specific vacancies or for vacancy pool
vacancy pools in anticipation of possible openings throughout the year.
Unsolicited résumés or applications will not be accepted. We encourage
applicants to call the Human Resources Department at (360) 650-3776 or visit

- How are applications screened and when will I be notified of the results of my
application?
ANSWER: All applications are reviewed, screened, and final candidates selected
for an interview by the search/screening committee. Once the hiring decision is
made, applicants are notified by written or verbal notification. The turn around
time for notification varies depending upon the number of applications received
and is generally within 6 weeks after the closing date.
You may also view the status
of your application by returning to the online system and click on "View
Submitted Apps." The status is indicated under the "Status" column.

application has been received; application hasn’t been processed.

Pending: Your
application is being processed (e.g., screening, reviewing, semi
finalists/alternate, and finalists being determined by screening
committee, etc.).

Closed: Position
has been filled.
