What is a Medical Flexible Spending
Account?A Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is an
IRS-approved, tax-free account that saves you money on eligible
medical expenses. You authorize per-pay period deposits to your
FSA from your before-tax salary. Then, as you incur eligible
expenses, you request tax-free withdrawals from your account to
reimburse yourself.
Permanent employees are eligible to participate in the FSA
program. You have a 30-day open enrollment period from the day
you begin work in an eligible position. After that time, you may
enroll each year during open enrollment (October-November) for
an effective date of January 1.
