About the Position: 

The Department of Geology maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary teaching positions.  In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year and summer sessions, applications are accepted continuously for temporary non-tenure track teaching positions on a part-time basis with occasional opportunities for temporary, full-time appointments.  Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis. 

 

Position Responsibilities:

Lecture and/or lab instruction in geology courses.

 

Required Qualifications:       

M.S. in Geological Sciences

 

Preferred Qualifications:       

Ph.D. in Geological Sciences.

Demonstrated experience and skills in working with diverse students and staff.

 

About the Department:  

The Geology Department at WWU is committed to excellence in both teaching and research.  We feel the best way to accomplish our educational goals is to integrate active learning and research into the curriculum so that teaching and research are unified into one endeavor.  For all of our students, we strive to create excitement about discovery and competence in application of the scientific method.  We want to develop in all students an appreciation of how geological processes affect the earth and society so that they will be environmentally responsible, scientifically literate citizens.  We strive to produce majors with an interdisciplinary background in geology and the physical sciences that can do original research and effectively communicate the results.
