Position Information:
The Political Science Department maintains a vacancy pool of qualified persons interested in temporary non-tenure track part-time teaching positions. In anticipation of possible openings throughout the academic year, applications are accepted continuously. Positions may become available at any time and are typically filled on a quarterly basis.
Position Responsibilities:
The Department, the College, and the University value teaching and you are expected to be an exemplary teacher; to be current in your discipline; to engage students actively in their own learning, including discussion, writing, and analysis; and to maintain high standards regarding course content. We expect you to provide students with feedback on their course work and examinations, and to be available to students through regularly-scheduled office hours in keeping with department policy.
We invite you to participate in scholarly and/or creative activity. This is not required for limited-term employment, although it is recognized that it can contribute to the quality of instruction.
All faculty are expected to behave in keeping with The Code of Faculty Ethics in the Faculty Handbook and with conventions within their discipline.
Required Qualifications:
ABD or MA
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D.
Evidence of teaching ability must be supplied, e.g., teaching evaluations and/or syllabi.
Preference will be given to applicants with teaching experience.
Experience working with a diverse student body and staff.
About the Department:
The Political Science department has thirteen faculty members and offers BA and MA degrees.
