Rehabilitation Counseling – Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor
(non-tenure track)

Position:
Nine-month appointment, with additional summer teaching expected, at the rank of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor. This is a non-tenure track position.
Start Date:
January 3, 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Description:
The Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling is part of the Department of Human Services and Rehabilitation within the Western Washington University Woodring College of Education. The program is housed with the Center for Continuing Education in Rehabilitation, which provides continuing education to rehabilitation personnel in the states of Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington. There are approximately 50 students in the Master of Arts program and the Certificate in Disability Management program. The program offers both a Seattle-based option and a distance education (cohort) option.
Location:
The RC and CCER offices are located in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, a suburb just north of Seattle. The main campus of Western Washington University is in Bellingham, approximately 75 miles north of these offices.
Responsibilities:
Teach graduate courses in rehabilitation counseling, both face-to-face and online.
Recruit and advise graduate students.
Support program through grant writing.
Supervise students during practicum and internship.
Participate in service to the profession and the university.
Required Qualifications:
An earned doctorate in rehabilitation counseling or closely related field.
Current certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).
Minimum of two years (Full time) experience teaching graduate level rehabilitation counseling courses.
Experience supervising practicum and internship students in rehabilitation counseling.
Experience providing direct service to persons with disabilities.
Record of accomplishments commensurate with rank at the level of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience providing education through distance learning.
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues from the university and community.
Experience teaching Counseling Techniques, Testing and Measurement, and Job Placement courses.
Ability to work well with a diverse student body and staff.
