Assistant Director

 Office of Alumni Relations

 

Position

The Assistant Director is responsible for creating, managing and sustaining an effective alumni volunteer and activity program. This is a full time 12-month professional staff FLSA exempt position. Annual salary is $35000+ dependent on qualifications and experience. Compensation includes a full benefits package and over 4 weeks of paid vacation per year.

 

Position Responsibilities

Identify target constituent groups and develop strategic plans and initiatives for engaging alumni through meaningful activities and volunteer opportunities.

         

Coordinate volunteer work of the Alumni Association Board of Directors and its committees.

 

Develop and improve existing on-and off-campus relationships and academic partnerships to support high quality alumni and constituent events and programs.

 

Identify and develop relationships with key alumni.

 

Research entrepreneurial ways of adding significant revenue streams to the WWU Alumni Association.

 

Attend board meetings with the Executive Director and support the infrastructure, development and growth of the board and board committees.

 

Oversee the preparation of all materials for meetings with alumni board members, vice presidents, deans, directors, department chairs and community volunteers.

 

Pro-actively seeking and managing new revenue streams, with an eye towards quality and enhanced reputation of the Alumni office.

 

Serve as backup for manage the daily operations of the Office of Alumni Relations when needed.

Provide leadership in the development of policy and procedures.

 

Employment Conditions

Participate in evening and weekend activities as needed.

 

Overnight travel required.

 

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, management, or related relevant field

 

Four years experience in non-profit or for profit project development and strategic planning

 

Strong skills in volunteer program

 

Demonstrated skills in planning and coordinating events

 

Demonstrated skills in exercising independent judgment and discretion and in delegating authority

 

Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

 

Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple high priority projects

 

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an ethical and professional manner.

 

Strong communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively engage and develop strong relationships with diverse groups and individuals.

 

Preferred

Budget management experience

 

Supervisory experience.
