* Non-Huxley Majors (& Wait Lists)

Registration for most Huxley courses is restricted to Huxley majors only during the first phase of registration. Non-Huxley students wishing to sign up for GIS classes should contact the Environmental Studies Department office (AH-217) to put their name on a Wait List (which are evaluated at the end of Phase 1).

* * Note on CSCI Programming Fundamentals courses

    CSCI-138 is Visual Basic (2nd Best Choice)

    CSCI-139 is Python    (BEST Choice for GIS minor)

    CSCI-140 is C++     (3rd Best Choice)

As Python is the current preferred scripting language for ArcGIS, CSCI-139 is the most applicable option for the GIS minor. ArcGIS also uses VB making CSCI-139 also a good option. CSCI-140 or other programming courses should provide a good foundation in the concepts of programming, which could transfer to Python or VB if need be...
