Description of the GPS units available Through Student Technical Fee funding, Huxley College has acquired a variety of specialized equipment for use with the Global Positioning System (GPS) for determining your position or for navigating to a desired location. The following is available for use in the instructional and research activities of students, faculty and staff of WWU: TRIMBLE EQUIPMENT GeoExplorer 3 handheld units - 10 units GeoXT - 1 unit PRO-XR backpack units - 2 units Beacon on a Belt - used with the GeoExplorer 3 to use broadcast signals for real-time correction of coordinates. four units Laser rangefinder and compass for obtaining coordinates of remote, visible objects while occupying a known position

Description of the GPS Software Installed in the Spatial Analysis Lab For TRIMBLE: Pathfinder Office (version 3.10) used for uploading map data and data dictionaries, and for the downloading of acquired coordinate and attribute data gathered in the field. This software can also convert among a variety of coordinate systems and output various file formats for later use in mapping and GIS
