Western Kids Camp

Mission Statement: Western Kids Camp serves the community by providing an academically engaging and physically active environment for youth to enhance intellectual, physical and social abilities in a student-centered university setting.

Kindergarten-Grade 6
July 2-20, 2012


Western Kids Camp is not your typical camp! Discover fun things to do on a college campus. Students participate in engaging and fun learning during this three week program designed to:

  • Maintain skills developed during the school year
  • Build new literacy skills
  • Showcase and utilize University resources

Morning enrichment provides exploration and discovery utilizing University classrooms, labs and equipment. Afternoon recreation will highlight the day with fun camp activities – swimming, rock climbing, archery, crafts, Wednesday lunch concerts, and much more – in the award winning Wade King Student Recreation Center and athletic fields. The blend of academics and recreation are sure to make learning fun.

Weekly Themes
July 2-6 – Amazing Races (no camp on July 4)
July 9-13 – In the Middle: Medieval Times
July 16-20 – Music Makers Around the World

Overview of Themes

Western Kids Camp is a partnership between Campus Recreation and Extended Education.

Cost: (based on Wade King Student Recreation Center (WKSRC) membership.) Camp costs are per week, per child.



WKSRC Member
$175 registration cost for one week
$165 per week if registering for all 3 weeks
$135 for July 4th week

Non WKSRC Member
$200 registration cost for one week
$190 per week if registering for all 3 weeks
$160 for July 4th week

All costs must be paid in full before your child is enrolled in camp sessions.

Schedule
Monday-Friday
Check-in: 8:45-9:00 a.m.
Program: 9:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Check-out: 4:30-4:45 pm
Detailed schedule

What to Bring Daily:
  • Lunch, two snacks and refillable water bottle
  • Attire for swimming and sporting activities (swimsuit, towel, tennis shoes)
  • Sunscreen and any other sports gear
  • Optional - a favorite reader

FREE 20 minute, convenient unload and load parking permit for easy drop-off and pick-up

Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged!

Cancellation and Refunds
A full refund is granted if a Western Kids Camp session is cancelled. No reduction in fees is given for late arrival, early departure, vacations, special events, short-term illness or expulsion for disciplinary reasons. Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing 14 working days before the first day of the scheduled session; a $50 weekly per session handling charge will be deducted. Refunds will not be granted for requests postmarked less than 14 days before your session begins.
