Summer Youth Theatre Institute (SYTI)
Entering grades 1-5, June 21-July 2; 9:00am-noon
Entering grades 6-12, June 21-July 9 & July 6- Aug 8; 1:00-4:00pm
Looking to sharpen your theatre skills?
All elements of theatrical production – from script development to the final show – are explored within WWU’s Performing Arts Center . Develop characters and scenes, speak and move effectively on stage, work in an ensemble, search the costume and scene shops, and rehearse for a grand finale performance on the stage of Old Main Theatre. Visit with WWU’s Summer Stock Productions cast and crew for inspiration and support.
Spend two dynamic weeks (three for Secondary grades) playing improvisational theatre games to workshop intensives in a variety of areas:
Showcase Performances (Old Main Theatre)
Elementary (grades 1-5)
Friday, July 3 at 12:00 noon
Friday, July 3 at 7:00 pm
Secondary (grades 6-12)
Friday, July 10 at 7:30pm
Make great, new friends as you experience the excitement and glamour only the world of theatre can give you!
Dorm stay is not available for SYTI students.
Wait, that's not all!!
Secondary students can extend their SYTI experience by becoming a cast member of the Summer production of "School House Rock, Live!"
Rehearsals - July 6-22 from 5:30-8:00 pm Monday-Friday
School House Rock, Live performances -
July 23-26 and July 29-August 2 in Old Main Theatre

- Stage movement, blocking and directing
- Technical theatre skill building
- Auditioning skill building
