Ruth E. Parker, PhD
CEO, Mathematics Education Collaborative (MEC)

Parker is the author of published books: Mathematical Power: Lessons from a Classroom and Supporting School Mathematics: How to Work with Parents and the Public. She directed an NSF funded grant to work with parents, educators and the public-at-large and research the impact on mathematics restructuring.

The nationally recognized MEC community-engagement model is based on collaborative work with teachers, parents, administrators, business leaders, school board members, math and science educators, and the public-at-large. Central to the model is the development of local cadres of mathematics education leaders. As developer of the highly acclaimed nine-day mathematics education series, Parker mentors MEC instructors who teach these courses throughout the country.

Parker received her PhD at the University of Oregon in 1992.
