Patterns, Functions & Algebraic Reasoning

This 9-day course is designed to develop and deepen your knowledge of:

  • The essential mathematics of Patterns, Functions and Algebraic Reasoning;

  • The nature of learning and characteristics of an optimal learning environment; and

  • The ways of assessing mathematical understandings.
In addition to the focus on mathematics, this 9-day course will immerse you in an in-depth study of educational change issues.

Numerical Reasoning
August 12-22, 2008

This 9-day course provides educators with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of numbers in ways that build a strong foundation for success with algebraic reasoning. This course develops and deepens participant understanding of:

  • Number including work with computation of rational numbers and with numerical reasoning;

  • The nature of learning and characteristics of an optimal learning environment; and

  • Ways of assessing mathematical understandings.
Prerequisite: Patterns: Foundations for Algebraic Reasoning

This is an opportunity for teachers to…
  • Receive continuing education credits.
  • Receive materials and valuable information on algebraic reasoning.

  • Collaborate with other teachers from outside your district.

Who: Math teachers & administrators (Grades K-20)

When: Daily M-F; 8:30 am-3:30 pm
