The Frank Teck papers document some of his writings over his career
as newspaper editor, journalist, and historian with especial
concentration on local history and lore. His chapter outlines
and articles reveal his interest in the development of the
Whatcom County region and the personages such as Dirty Dan
Harris and Robert Morse who contributed to that development. The
collection also includes articles about John Jacob Astor and the
development of Astoria, Oregon, and European-American and Native American
relations in Washington State. Teck’s writings are quite colorful and, although they reveal the biases of the time and the writer, give an entertaining and informative history of early European exploration and settlement of Whatcom County and the surrounding area.
The correspondence included in the collection is presumably only a sampling and is mostly related to Teck’s research for various articles. Financial records
comprise a contract between Teck and five other parties concerning an oil and gas agreement.
The collection also include magazine and newspaper clippings related to Teck’s research
and a copy of his obituary from the Bellingham Evening News.
