In January 1912, Puget Sound Traction, Light & Power Company officially incorporated and authorized the merger of Bellingham-Skagit Railway and Seattle-Everett Interurban to form Pacific Northwest Traction Company. This newly created subsidiary gained responsibility for the operation of several Puget Sound interurban railway lines. Operational records include field books and photographs documenting the construction of the interurban line connecting Bellingham with Sedro-Woolley and Mt Vernon.

Series 28. Puget Sound Electric Railway Company, 1903-ca. 1960s (1903-1929)
 

Although company records contain brochures and a small amount of correspondence from the 1950s and 1960s, the bulk of its records date to the period 1903-1929. Monthly financial and operational reports reflect activities and expenses associated with the operations of the Seattle-Tacoma interurban,  documenting expenses and revenue, construction plans, and the company’s relationship with Puget Sound Traction, Light & Power and the Tacoma Railway & Power Company. Operating reports include statistical information document passenger car operations, and contain evidence regarding power distribution and suppliers. A small number of legal case records in the series, dated 1904-1908, reflect various disputes regarding the regulation of private utilities, and the construction of a hydro-electric plant at White River.

Records include an early street light project called Bellingham White Way and a later project called British Columbia Hydro Intertie Project which includes aerial photographs of the BC Hydro Intertie Project as well as Mylar film sheets and other aerial photos from the real estate department.  The BC Hydro Intertie Project aerial photographs are taken from south to north moving from Bellingham to the Canadian border.  The real estate photographs also offer aerial views of the Puget Sound region heading both south and north to the Canadian border.
