The
Pacific Northwest Jazz Alliance Records provide a thorough
documentation of the organization’s entire history, from its
inception in August 1992, through its non-profit incorporation
in 1995, to its dissolution in 2005.
The PNJA records contain detailed administrative records,
including meeting minutes, articles of incorporation and 501-C3
documentation, and strategic planning documents. Financial
records provide a thorough documentation of the PNJA’s income
and expenditures, grants, advertising, fundraising activities,
and corporate sponsorship. The activities and events series
documents most of the artists brought to Bellingham by the PNJA,
as well as special events such as the Jazz Literature series and
the PNJA Jazz Film series. The records for individual artists
include biographies, promotional materials, photographs, and
performance information such as contracts. PNJA Educational and
charitable activities are also documented, including the Western
Washington University Jazz Symposium with Buddy Collette, and
Whatcom County High School Jazz Clinics. Lastly, there is a
collection of posters and fliers representing a large variety of
PNJA-sponsored events.
