Settings for Etrex

From Main Menu page

            Choose Setup

            Choose Interface

                        Serial Data Format     NMEA In/NMEA Out

                        Baud                        4800

Settings for ArcPad

From the Tools menu

            Choose Options         

            Under Protocol tab:

                        CHECK           Automatically Activate

                        Protocol          NMEA 0183

                        GPS Datum     WGS84

            Under GPS tab:

                        Port                COM1

                        Baud               4800

                        Parity              None (or try Odd)

                        UNCHECK         Infra Red

                        Data Bits         8         

                        Stop Bits         1

From the GPS Position menu

            Choose GPS Position Window to see GPS coordinates

            Choose GPS Active to turn GPS location On or Off

To use the Find GPS utility extension (if connection isn’t working from above settings)

            From the Tools menu

            Choose Find GPS

            Should return a Device Found screen

                        Protocol             NMEA

                        Port                   1

                        Baud                 4800

                        Parity                N (None)

                        Data                 8

                        Stop                  1

            If settings are different than above, can use the Update GPS Preferences option.
