| At least symbolically
furthering the places' linkage and the interconnection of the boosters'
cosmologies, the park gates and the coal mine sign bore a striking
resemblance to each other. The massive size of these markers
announced the places they signified with characteristic booster confidence
while their raw lumber construction and attendant shrubbery suggested
postcard possibilities. |
