As its green rivaling Oz,  ornamental pond, and highly sculpted grounds show, in the early twentieth century Elizabeth Park's location in one of the city's wealthier neighborhoods made it the pet project of the city's political and financial elite.  Although a relatively small park, annual expenditures on Elizabeth Park  regularly outpaced those on Cornwall Park until Fischer's bequest.  Unnumbered postcard, Whatcom Museum of History and Art.
