This 1922 map provided a more detailed  vision of Bellingham's hinterland, including not only "tributary" places but also their tribute.  That the map maker failed to mention  Bellingham was neither the start nor end point of any of these rails and recognized no trains at all going to Seattle suggests the map was more reflective of the boosters' imagined landscape than Bellingham's actual position in the region.
